(For Better or Verse: Each day in 2025 I will begin this Godsfield e-mail with a Bible verse that corresponds with the month (chapter 1-12) and day (verse 1-31) it is sent. This month features a lot of sixth chapters! Those with eyes and ears, let them see and hear.)
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain
This is the last month we will hear from Timothy (Actually to Timothy, from Paul), since this letter has only six chapters, something that matters only to one who is creating a scripture calendar, I realize. You can open your Bible to 1 Timothy 6 anytime you want, and I suggest you do, especially since the last chapter of any of St. Paul's letters is given to great summary and wisdom.
You came into this world with nothing, and that is what you get to carry out, so being content with what you have and appreciating God's daily provision is a great step forward, a godly attitude.
If you are studying the daily value of your 401K without studying the daily value of studying God's word (and you don't have to study it, just hear it, read it, absorb it and add godliness to your contentment).
This is a brief verse that is the beginning of the next two verses, that simple perspective of how to boil down the complexities of life to the basics -- got food? got clothes? You're in great shape. Be content.
